Your Full Guide to Cycling in Mississauga
With summer in full swing, there is no better time to start exploring the city by bike. Whether you’re new to cycling or a cycling enthusiast, Mississauga’s trails have something for you. The City has been recognized as a bicycle friendly community, with over 500 kilometres of multi-use trails, park paths, and other routes to enjoy. Cycling has it all – exercise, eco-friendly transportation, and a way to explore.
The Culham Trail
Since 1986, this trail has been providing cyclists with peaceful nature escapes along the Credit River. It stretches for about 13.5 kilometres between Erindale Park and Pinecliff Park in the north. A favourite nature spot along this stretch is The Riverwood Conservancy. Last summer, an extension of the Culham trail opened in Credit Meadows Park. The last small length of the trail ends in Meadowvale Conservation Area.
The Etobicoke Creek Trail
For those in the east looking for a long trail to enjoy, look no further than the Etobicoke Creek trail. A favourite for birdwatching, this trail meanders along the edge of the city and in parts through lands owned by Pearson International Airport. Watch plane landings and spot wildlife while you ride.
Waterfront Trail
Not only does the city have a trail along the river, but one along the waterfront as well. The Mississauga section of the Waterfront Trail passes through 22 parks. Some of those parks feature mobile food vendors, such as Lakefront Promenade. Perhaps some of the most scenic views along this trail can be found in the historic villages of Port Credit and Clarkson.
Pro tip: Bring a bike lock so you can lock up your bike and refuel by grabbing a bite in one of the local restaurants.
