Summer on the Mississauga Waterfront
When the sunshine is in full swing in Ontario, nothing beats combining outdoor activities with the cool breeze that comes from Lake Ontario. Lucky for summer enthusiasts, Mississauga’s shoreline stretches across parks, beaches, and trails, making it easy to build a full sun-soaked day along the waterfront.
Here are some of the top waterfront spots in the city that you can include in your next exploration of the city.
Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area is a new addition to Mississauga and a terrific and easy way to discover and explore the waterfront. It has 26 hectares of waterfront trails and restored coastal wetlands to explore, including pedestrian bridges and trails ideal for walking or cycling.
This is your chance to soak in the beauty of the shoreline, where on a clear day you can see the CN Tower, or stop for a moment and capture pictures of the birds that stop to rest in this superhighway bird spot.
Explore the whole shoreline throughout Mississauga with the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail. This trail passes 22 parks across the Mississauga shoreline, including Richard’s Memorial Park, Port Credit Harbour, and Rattray Marsh Conservation Area, giving you plenty of places to pause for views or a snack.

Lakefront Promenade Park is an activity-filled greenspace with access to a waterfront pathway, beach volleyball courts, a nearby splash pad and playground, and, of course, a golden sandy beach. There are also two boat launching ramps for those who want to get out onto the water.
As this is Mississauga’s largest beach, it does tend to get busy, but its great location makes it super easy to visit for a few hours, then walk to Lakeshore Road for a bite to eat and a cool, refreshing drink.
Jack Darling Memorial Park offers all-day beach fun and the nearby opportunity to visit Rattray Marsh Conservation Area if you’d also like some trails to explore. This Park is also ideal for your four-legged friends as it has one of the biggest fenced-in off-leash parks around.
It’s the perfect spot for those who love to hang out at the beach and have a picnic, with large green space areas that include tables, barbecues, and running water.
Richard’s Memorial Park is a smaller park, great for tree-shaded picnics and relaxed vibes. Its sandy beach and children’s park make it a great option for families with small children.
Port Credit is the premier Mississauga destination for walkable waterfront exploring. This urban village features the iconic Port Credit Lighthouse, a great spot to stop for pictures, and over 400 shops and restaurants.
The perfect addition to any summer along the waterfront is a delicious meal with epic views of the water and skyline.
Snug Harbour is a seafood bar and grill located in Port Credit with worth-the-wait patio seating. As a community fixture that has multiple views of the marina and a relaxing vibe, be sure to add this to your waterfront experiences this summer.
Lakefront Promenade Marina is the perfect quick-bite option for those walking along the waterfront and visiting Lakefront Promenade Park.
