This month, Mississauga is back at it with lots of festivals to keep you busy. Known as a cultural hotspot, the city brings in lots of different nations from all over the world as they celebrate what makes them different and great.

These festivals guide you on a cultural journey around the world: begin in Latin America and traverse through the Asian lands, followed by a stopover in Italy, before you end your trip to celebrate the Islamic identity of multiple Asian, African, and Middle Eastern countries in one harmonious event.

Mississauga Latin Festival

Begin the month with the Mississauga Latin Festival, an annual free multicultural event that returns to the city from August 7 until August 9 at Celebration Square. Celebrate the vivacious music, food, art, and animated performances from Latin America. Soak in the electric vibes, a colourful cultural parade, and traditional folklore dancing that will keep your hips moving all weekend long.

Mississauga Hong Kong Festival 2026

Next, head on over to Asia for the Mississauga Hong Kong Festival. It is a two-day event, from August 15 to August 16, at the Mississauga Sports and Entertainment Centre (formally Paramount Fine Foods Centre). Experience the Spirit of Hong Kong through delicious bites of street food, sports competitions, live performances, and cultural booths. Kids can take advantage of the interactive zone, while sports enthusiasts will want to check out the soccer and basketball tournaments, including the World Kong Cup Soccer Tournament.

Japan Festival Canada

Keep the Asian celebrations going strong and get ready to experience all the food, culture, and technology of this small island country at Japan Fest, a free event on August 15 to August 16 at Celebration Square. Enjoy traditional Japanese eats while you immerse yourself in their culture and community with live anime cover bands, an authentic matsuri atmosphere, and many vendors to explore, plus free giveaways.

Mississauga Italfest 2026

Cross over to Europe and celebrate the heritage of Italy with Mississauga Italfest on August 21 to August 22 at Celebration Square. This particular fest goes beyond bringing recognition to Italy’s food, culture, and people and coincides with Ferragosto, Italy’s national holiday. Enjoy a taste of regional food, live performances, and favourite pastimes, including bocce ball, the card game: Scopa, soccer, and pasta and watermelon eating contests. 

MuslimFest

Closing out August is MuslimFest, a free three-day event at Celebration Square from August 29 to August 31, helping celebrate 22 years of Muslim Arts. Featuring a variety of talented artists, including Mohamed Tarek, Brother Ali, and more international and local entertainment, as well as live and spiritual nasheeds and spoken word. Experience the culture and traditions alongside delicious and diverse halal food, a vibrant atmosphere, and a family-friendly fun village with a variety of interactive workshops, like Dabke dancing.
