Shop, Create, and Support Local Artists in Mississauga This Fall
Whether you love to appreciate art or want to immerse yourself in the creation of a piece, Mississauga has many ways to do so. From visiting art galleries to attending art markets, or even taking a few classes, you’ll find that the city loves to showcase local artists and encourage its residents to try their hand at creating their own.
Here are many ways you can become involved in the arts and crafts world this year.
There is always something happening at the AGM. Until October 25, the current exhibition is A.S.M Kobayashi: Electric Neon Clock, a hybrid, immersive piece that blends installation, performance, and documentary.
It’s an intriguing project based on Kobayashi’s first discovery of the Canadian government’s WWII custodial file on her great-grandfather. Using a combination of video, documents, sound, and photo archives, the artist invites visitors to go through the inventory journey with her and humanize its contents.
There are always plenty of talented artists to visit at this smaller gallery. Open since 1985, Cresent Hill views itself as the “original” Mississauga art gallery with a rich history and great knowledge of Canadian artists. Whether you’re a collector or just love to check out brilliant pieces, add this gallery to your list of spots to check out.
The beauty of art is that it can come in all forms. Head on over to the Royal Canadian Legion in Streetsville on Saturday, October 3 for the Craft Show. This free event is your chance to shop local, curated goods, from beautifully crafted jewelry and accessories to home décor, flowers and seasonal crafts, and artisanal wares. It’s art that you can wear, display in your home, or give as a gift to share.
Celebrating 25 years as Mississauga’s Biggest Art Show, this three-day event (October 16 to 18) held at the Small Arms Inspection Building is not to be missed. Friday will usher in the event with the opening night gala of music, food and drinks, and, of course, art. Tickets for this must be purchased ahead of time.
Saturday and Sunday are free and include the art show and sale, and are your chance to snatch up those pieces you fell in love with and know will look amazing in your home or office. There will be a combination of returning and new artists, as well as a special needs emerging artists spot, and a youth arts exhibit.

Paint Nites are frequent events where you can unleash your creative artist while sipping on drinks with friends or family. Locations and dates vary, as do the pieces you will paint, but it’s always a great time out where you can learn some techniques and get to return home with a piece to display proudly at home.
