Along with the chilly weather comes a lot of cool winter activities and attractions in Mississauga. Whether you’re looking for a quick activity or a full winter staycation, some family fun or a night on the town, there are lots of ways to enjoy winter in Mississauga. Soak up the season with these outdoor activities.

Go skating in the square

Gliding along an outdoor ice rink is a quintessential wintertime activity. Celebration Square is the most beloved spot to enjoy this pastime. Not only is it free, it’s especially magical – surrounded by light displays and lit up trees. After your skate, warm up with some hot eats from the nearby food trucks.

Grab your sticks and play a pick-up game

Besides Celebration Square, there are also 47 parks with natural ice rinks, generously maintained by volunteers. These are great for a smaller skating experience, or a game of pick-up hockey.

Take a winter walk

Our tobogganing hills are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to outdoor amenities in Mississauga. In fact, there are over 500 parks throughout the city, with endless options for picturesque walks. Beyond the natural beauty of our parks, you can also explore our outdoor public art displays. Check out our Polar Express walking tour map for a guide to more than 20 show-stopping works.

Enjoy some scenic snowshoeing

Make the most of Mississauga’s natural landscape by getting up close during snowshoeing expedition. The Riverwood Conservancy and Rattray Marsh both offer stunning views from the trails, allowing you to experience winter views and get a peek of local wildlife while enjoying the crisp fresh air.

Tobogganing

For a fun and thrilling outdoor adventure, grab your sled! Mississauga has six parks with tobogganing hills, so you can find super steep lopes or less perilous peaks. For an unforgettable memory, take a tobogganing tour and try them all!

Take your pooch to the park

Is there anything cuter than watching your pup play in the winter snow? There is lots of snowy fun to be had for the hounds as well. Jack Darling Dog Park is a favourite spot for pet owners to let their pooches run leash-free and enjoy playtime with other dogs. Make sure to have your phone ready to snap some shots of your pup’s snowy nose.
