No summer is complete without a trip to the beach! With shores across Lake Ontario, Mississauga has no shortage of spots to spend a day by the water. Before summer winds down, add these beaches to your #MySaugaSummer sand-bucket list.

  • Best Hidden Gem – Richard’s Memorial Park: Locals know that this is one of the best beaches in the city. Small but special, it’s a short walk or drive from even more popular waterfront locales, but you’ll find it a bit less busy on most days. Take advantage of the covered picnic areas and bbqs or hang out on a blanket on the sand before jumping in the water for a swim. Make sure to check out the permanent public art installation, a monument to peace.
  • Best for Families and Boat Enthusiasts – Lakefront Promenade Park: For those looking to keep kids entertained for a full day, this spot as it all. In addition to having the city’s largest beach, there is a spray pad and playground to enjoy, as well as beach volleyball courts and picnic areas. Make a day of it with a waterfront walk to watch boats launch from the marina, or bring a canoe and head out for a paddle yourself.
  • Best for Dog Owners – Jack Darling Memorial Park: A perfect sandy spot with a sprawling waterfront, this beach is a local favourite due to its vast variety of amenities. It features expansive picnic areas that can accommodate around 150 people, a spray pad and a whimsical park. Dog owners especially love it for its easy access to trails as well as its off-leash dog park – perfect for letting your pet run around after its splashes in the lake.
  • BONUS: Best spot for a waterfront stroll – Port Credit Memorial Park: If you want some waterfront views (and fun!) but want to skip the beach blanket, head to this favourite Port Credit locale. The picturesque pier features the iconic lighthouse, a bustling boardwalk, and a splash pad so you can still enjoy a day by the water, sans sand. Other amenities include an accessible playground, basketball nets, a skate park and picnic areas. With plenty of community festivals and events hosted here throughout the year, along with access to local shops and restaurants, there’s always lots of activities and attractions for everyone to enjoy.
