Buzzing with activities, entertainment and concerts for all ages, Downtown Mississauga is a place for people. Mississauga’s downtown mix of outdoor and public spaces, office buildings, retail development and residential condominiums makes for a thriving city centre offering a wonderful variety of experiences for residents and visitors to enjoy. Whatever your passion—from shopping to entertainment or education to quiet reflection, downtown Mississauga has it all.

Mississauga’s vibrant downtown is the heart and soul of the city’s municipal government, cultural, social, community and commercial activities. Here you will find City Hall (Civic Centre), the award-winning outdoor Mississauga Celebration Square (also known as festival central) the Central Library, the Living Arts Centre (the premier hub for arts, culture and performance in Mississauga), the province’s largest shopping mall (and second largest in Canada)—Square One Shopping Centre, The Food District and the Art Gallery of Mississauga. Be surprised and delighted with a variety of year-round cultural festivals, events and performances highlighting the city’s rich diversity.

Enjoy a self-guided tour of the Civic Centre or grab a bite to eat at C Cafe. When you visit the Civic Centre, experience highlights including the Great Hall, with marble and granite columns rising more than three stories, to a 20-metre-high glass skylight; and the 30-metre diameter domed ceiling of the Council Chamber, which pays tribute to Mississauga’s historic villages and First Nations’ tradition. Wander leisurely through the public Art Gallery of Mississauga which features works by local and national artists. The Art Gallery is open year-round and admission is free.

A variety of parks, public spaces and pedestrian walkways populate the downtown, providing a chance to slow down in the bustling city centre, an area which continues to evolve into an ever more exciting and dynamic city centre. Join in the fun at Mississauga Celebration Square, a lively public square and state-of-the-art multi-media event destination located adjacent to Mississauga City Hall, featuring everything from main stage events and community festivals, to more intimate gatherings and individual activities.

Re-energize at the serene Kariya Park Japanese Gardens. Visit Scholar’s Green, a three-acre park that winds itself around the grounds of Sheridan College’s Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning Mississauga campus and Community Common Park, an urban green space located just northwest of Mississauga Celebration Square.

An expanded network of bike paths and improved transit helps move people in and around Mississauga. This includes the new transitway along Highway 403, that connects east and west destinations in the City through the downtown.
