Wintertime in Mississauga is something special. With tons of magical events and amenities for every interest, you’ll be dreaming of snow-filled fun all season long. It’s the perfect spot to plan a March Break getaway or some Family Day fun. From spectacular light displays to cozy indoor activities, make sure to add these can’t-miss Mississauga attractions and activities to your winter bucket list.

1. Journey into magical universes at Illumi

There’s nothing like twinkling lights to create a festive wintertime fantasy land, and that’s exactly what Illumi has done. The world’s largest lights and multimedia show has landed in Mississauga, bringing with it a magical journey through 14 unique universes. As darkness falls, Illumi glows with more than 20 million lights. You’ll be dazzled by carousels, lanterns, animal kingdoms, dinosaurs and so much more – not to mention the Tree of Light, standing as tall as the Statue of Liberty!

2. Experience interactive art in the square

Of course, no wintertime visit to Mississauga is complete without a visit to the heart of the city – Celebration Square. During the winter you can take in even more spectacular lights in the Square with Passage, an interactive art installation made up of 20 circles of light that form a tunnel. Perfect for selfies or just soaking up the ambiance, the passage through the tunnel activates light animations and sounds, creating a truly magical spectacle.

3. Soar on skates amid the city lights

Aside from Passage, and the bright city ambiance, there are even more spectacular lights to see on the trees all around Celebration Square. They provide the perfect winter backdrop for the free ice skating on the city’s largest outdoor rink. Afterward, you can warm up with a hot meal from one of the rink-side food trucks.

If the snow is too blustery for a day outdoors, there are plenty of indoor attractions and events to explore.

4. Enjoy some friendly competition

If action is the name of the game, there are no shortage of options. At GYGO you can challenge your family or friends to a Nerf battle, or step inside the Holodome for an immersive VR experience – no headset needed.
