SUMMARY:Dreamland: An exhibition about home\, identity and the art of belonging
DESCRIPTION:Dreamland\, curated by Hibah Mian\, poses the question: “Is it possible to exist in two places at one time?” \nThe project illustrates new ways to understand the passage of one space to another\, the move from a home to a house\, while learning stories of trauma and transformation. Dreamland looks at BIPOC artists’ works and residents in Mississauga to conceptualize the use of public spaces that propose associations between the immigrant or refugee in a western world. \nFeatured artists include: \n\nBaljit Singh\,\nYazan Salameh\,\nKarim Machado-Aman\,\nKrystal Ball\, and\nPar Nair.\n\nThis project is funded through the Museums’ BIPOC Community Curator Program.

The Streetsville BIA is excited to announce the return of our Community Car Show in partnership with the Streetsville Legion Branch 139. \n\n\n\nThis year we will be hosting our Car Show on Saturday\, September 7th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. New this year we’ve added two additional lots to showcase even more cars as well as vendors. Grab a bite from Nox Wine Bar or Taco Cat who will both be on site selling delicious food and enjoy a licensed bar provided by The Legion. \n\n\n\nGuests can come down to 101 Church St. in Mississauga (Streetsville) to see a variety of classic and unique cars on display. Enjoy live music by River North from 12pm – 3pm.  There will be free activities for little car enthusiasts including temporary tattoos provided by Skintricate Tattoo Company\, crafts\, and face painting. Make sure you vote for your favourite car. The winner will receive dinner for two to a restaurant in the Village of your choice.* \n\n\n\nThis is a free community event supporting The Streetsville Legion and Eden Food for Change. SUMMARY:Once Upon A Dream
DESCRIPTION:Once Upon a Dream” is a voice and piano concert featuring Anna Wojcik\, soprano\, and Alex Wang\, piano. It will take place on September 7th at 7pm in the Studio Theatre at the Living Arts Centre. The concert will enter the magical world of fairytales with a retelling of classic princess stories. Experience Cinderella\, Sleeping Beauty\, and Snow White through opera arias\, art songs\, piano pieces\, and beloved songs from the Disney films. The concert will feature works by composers including Fauré\, Prokofiev\, Debussy\, and Larsen.  \n\n\n\nAs a duo\, Anna and Alex have been working together since 2017. Among others\, they have performed recitals together to great success at the Polish Consulate in Toronto\, the Lieutenant Governor’s Suite in Queen’s Park\, and the Art Gallery of Mississauga. The program for “Once Upon a Dream ” was inspired by the various repertoire that has stemmed from the original Grimm’s brothers fairy tales. This concert stretches the traditional Art Song recital medium by not only including Art Songs\, but also connecting opera arias\, musical-theatre songs\, and piano pieces\, to highlight their relevancies with an underlying theme that is easy to follow and throughlines the entire program. The program is varied and is a great introduction to classical music for new audience members.  \n\n\n\nThere will be English subtitles displayed for foreign-language pieces. This concert is presented as part of the City of Mississauga’s Love Local Music Program. Through this grant program\, Melanoma Canada will provide sun safety tools and resources including sunscreen\, UPF shirts\, hats\, shade structures\, tents\, umbrellas\, and more to camps\, daycares\, schools\, and recreation programs across the country that help support underserved kids and youth.   \n  Here’s what you can expect: \n Don’t miss your shot!
