DESCRIPTION:You are invited to experience a full day of exciting dragon boat racing and community spirit on the water. As a spectator\, you’ll watch teams of 18–22 participants compete in fast-paced races\, with each boat carrying up to 20 paddlers. \n\n\n\nEach team will race in two heats and one final\, with medals awarded after the final races. Team photos will follow the medal presentations\, giving you a chance to see the celebrations up close. \n\n\n\nFeatured Competition: Industry Cup RacesYou’ll also get to watch the return of the Industry Cup Races\, where teams from similar industries or community groups compete against one another. These races take place when at least three teams from the same group are registered\, adding an extra level of competition and excitement. \n\n\n\nEvent Schedule \n\n\n\n\n7:15 a.m. – Team Registration \n\n\n\n7:45 a.m. – Team Captains Meeting\n\n\n\n8:30 a.m. – Races Begin\n\n\n\nApproximately 3:30 p.m. – Event Wrap-Up\n\n\n\n\nAdditional Details \n\n\n\n\nMixed teams include a minimum of eight female paddlers\n\n\n\nMerchant vendors will be available throughout the day\n\n\n\n\nCome enjoy the energy of race day\, support the teams\, and take in a lively event by the water.

Presented in collaboration with the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation\, the event showcases Indigenous talent through a diverse lineup of performances that celebrate both tradition and contemporary expression. \n\n\n\nHeadlining the evening is JUNO-nominated artist Tia Wood\, recognized for her captivating vocals and modern R&B sound that continues to inspire audiences across the country. \n\n\n\nGuests can experience an exciting mix of performances throughout the evening\, from traditional hand drumming and round dance music to contemporary hip-hop and DJ sets. The saugaLIVE stage will feature returning favourites Manitou Mkwa Singers and MR. SAUGA\, alongside performances by Qattuu and DJ Kookum. \n\n\n\nThe celebration will be hosted by Indigenous youth advocate and content creator Kairyn Potts and local artist MR. The movie will begin at dusk\, but there will be plenty happening beforehand—so plan to arrive early and soak in the atmosphere. \n\n\n\nWhile you’re there\, treat yourself to something sweet or savoury from one of the local businesses\, whether it’s ice cream\, churros\, funnel cake\, Beavertails\, or your favourite snack. \n\n\n\nMadagascar follows four New York City zoo animals—Alex the lion\, Marty the zebra\, Melman the giraffe\, and Gloria the hippo—who unexpectedly find themselves stranded on the island of Madagascar after Marty ventures out to see the world. As you watch their adventure unfold\, you’ll see them navigate the wild\, face hilarious challenges\, and discover the true meaning of friendship and freedom. \n\n\n\nPlease note that the movie is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled to July 26 in the event of inclement weather.
