DESCRIPTION:Visit two historic sites to experience four unique exhibition projects that share stories rooted in themes of identity\, home\, and belonging. \nExhibition schedule\nThe following programs will be on display from August 10 to December 18: \nLeaving Home \n\nBradley Museum\, Anchorage Gallery from August 10 to September 10.\nCurated by Maysoon Sheikh\, Leaving Home features stories of migration and what it means to leave home.\nLearn about the experiences shared by all communities and reflect on your own history by writing a letter back home or mapping your journey of leaving home\n\nGeneration X Marks the Spot \n\nBradley Museum\, Anchorage Gallery Hallways from September 21 to December 18.\nCurated by Dayo Kefentse\, Generation X Marks the Spot showcases a timeline of events and authentic media clippings from 1988\, wherein a local shooting involving a Black teen spurred youths in the Black Action Defense Committee to investigate police training\, policies\, and attitudes towards visible minorities. Learn more about the actions that were inspired by the incident.\n\nNo Place \n\nBradley Museum\, Anchorage Gallery from September 21 to December 18.\nCurated by Arezu Salamzadeh\, No Place relates to what it means to desire proximity to a place and identity outside one’s own\, and to bridge notions of identity\, place\, and desire.\nFor this installation\, these themes will be explored through the landscapes and myths of the American Southwest\, featuring custom sculptures of saloon doors\, horses\, and more.\nGet excited for a three-part drag karaoke series from October to December\, led by Arezu’s drag persona Rolls Rice.\n\nPanel discussion\nDreamland \n\nSmall Arms Inspection Building on August 31 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.\nCurated by Hibah Mian\, Dreamland poses the question: “Is it possible to exist in two places at one time?” which illustrates new ways to understand the passage of one space to another\, the move from a home to a house\, while learning stories of trauma and transformation.\nLearn more and register for the panel discussion.\n\nShare this

DESCRIPTION:Calling all artists! Register now for the “Grant Writing for Artists” workshop to gain the practical skills to secure funding for your creative projects. Whether you’re a musician\, visual artist\, dancer\, writer\, or any other creative soul\, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the arts funding landscape\, how to prepare an application and discover key considerations throughout the process. \nThis workshop is presented by Noora Rizvi\, currently the Program Manager of Arts Across Canada and Arts Abroad at the Canada Council for the Arts. \nAbout Noora: As an arts manager\, programmer\, audience development specialist\, and strategy consultant\, Noora has over twenty years of management experience in the arts and cultural sector.
